Opening Week Second Cycle Formation, Nairobi

Ordination to the Diaconate

The new semester of our Second Cycle Formation centre in Nairobi opened with thirty five students: with thirteen new students from Cameroon, DR Congo, India, Kenya, Malaysia and Uganda joining the community – a real international and multi-cultural mix.

The lively introduction week ended on Saturday 20th August with the ordination to the diaconate of four of our brothers: George Odero Omuto, David Masiga Odonya and Cosmas Ondari Omboto, all who hail from Kenya, and Chrysantus Mbiemieh Munu, who is from Cameroon.

Bishop Joseph Obanyi Sagwe, the Bishop of the Diocese of Kakamega, presided at this joy-filled celebration which took place at Shauri Moyo Parish in Nairobi. During his homily, as he recounted the efforts of the Mill Hill Missionaries over the last 150 years to proclaim the Word by their words and actions, the Bishop invited our four new deacons to respond to their ministry of love and service with the same energy and enthusiasm; giving particular attention to the poor and remaining always rooted in Christ by being people of prayer.

We are very grateful to the Friends of Mill Hill group in Shauri Moyo who organised the day and the choir of the parish who animated the celebration of the Eucharist with their beautiful voices and joyful faces.
